About Amanda
Founder and Provider
Hi, I’m Amanda — a Marriage & Family Therapist Associate, big-picture thinker, and slightly obsessed-with-human-behavior human.
I started Sona Therapy because I kept seeing the same thing in my office: brilliant, caring people quietly burning out (physically and mentally) while trying to hold everything together for everyone else. They didn’t need another generic “self-care tip”; they needed language for what they were living, tools that actually matched their nervous system, and a space where their story made sense.
Sona is my way of making that kind of support more accessible and beyond the therapy hour and into everyday life.

What I Do
1:1 Therapy
I provide individual and relationship therapy, helping people untangle patterns like:
-
Maladaptive people-pleasing
-
Chronic self-criticism and shame
-
Trauma wounds that show up in the body, appetite, and energy
-
Attachment and relational dynamics (aka: “Why do I keep ending up in the same story?”)
My work sits at the intersection of attachment theory, systems thinking, Narrative Therapy, Jungian psychology, physical health, and parts work. Translation: I care about your past, your patterns, your inner world, your relationship with your body, and your real life today.
Psychoeducation
Not everything needs to be therapy, and not everyone is ready for it.
That’s why I created free psychoeducational online courses that focus on:
-
People Pleasing Recovery – understanding the pattern, healing the root, and learning boundaries that don’t feel like you’re being “mean.”
-
Self-Critic & Nervous System Reset – shifting from internal attack mode to compassionate accountability, while gently retraining your nervous system.
-
Self-Care Workshop- learning how to really take care of your emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing.
These spaces are designed to educate, provoke awareness, and give tools to the public about the relationship with we have with ourselves and others. The online courses are not a substitute for therapy. Instead, they are tool to aid personal growth on your own time.
A Bit More About Me (Human Version)
Outside of sessions and programs, you can usually find me:
-
Lifting weights and thinking about longevity and vitality
-
Reading psychology, philosophy, and fantasy (often all at once)
-
Dreaming up new ways to bring mental health tools to regular people in accessible, non-clinical language
I care deeply about sustainable change — not quick fixes. My goal is that the work you do with me keeps echoing through your life for years.
